CEMENTOWNIA ODRA S.A.

CEMENTOWNIA ODRA S.A. – IMPROVING CLINKER LOGISTICS

Cementownia Odra is a Polish cement manufacturer. They were facing challenges with their clinker delivery process, particularly with the loading and unloading of clinker from trucks. The process was not automated, leading to delays in delivery and increased labor costs. In addition, there were issues with dust emissions during the unloading process, which had to be addressed to comply with environmental regulations. Cementownia Odra needed a solution that would optimize the delivery process, improve efficiency, and limit dust emissions.

Challenges

Cementownia Odra faced multifaceted challenges. The side loading from the truck made the process difficult and required special equipment to optimize the process. The storage capacity of the trucks needed to be utilized at maximum efficiently to ensure the plant could best utilize the limited space devoted to the process. Dust emissions also needed to be reduced during the unloading process to meet environmental regulations.

Solution

DIS/CREADIS developed a piece of custom-made equipment called CREATOR, which is a bulk material unloading station designed for heavy duty environments. The equipment is designed for storing material from the car and dose with liquid during the process. The side filling feature saves space, and the integrated filter ensures limited dust is emitted and no further space is taken. Furthermore, the entire trailer is unloaded and stored, optimizing the storage capacity of the truck.

CREATOR’s large size and high capacity makes it suitable for Cementownia Odra’s needs. The integrated control and power circuits ensure efficient control and monitoring of the delivery process. The equipment's high-capacity dust filter helps to limit dust emissions, which is essential for compliance with environmental regulations.

Benefits

The implementation of the CREATOR equipment has brought several benefits to Cementownia Odra. The equipment's side filling feature has optimized the use of space, making it easier to store and convey clinker. The high capacity of the equipment has improved the efficiency of the clinker delivery process, reducing delays in delivery and labor costs. The integrated filter has limited dust emissions that ensures that the company complies with environmental regulations. The equipment's integrated control system provides control of local safety systems which improves worker safety.

SKY-LIGHT – NEW FLEXIBLE ROBOTIC PACKAGING PRODUCTION MACHINE DELIVERES INCREASED SAFETY FOR NEW PLANT

SKY-LIGHT, a film and packaging manufacturer, has invested in a new production plant that required an efficient and safe packaging system. The previous manual processes were not optimal in terms of the working environment and safety, and the new plant had to be able to handle rolls weighing between 200 kg and 1800 kg (441 lb. to 3968 lb.). This meant that the packaging system needed to be very flexible and capable of adjusting to nine different packing methods. SKY-LIGHT did not have the internal resources to develop this system, and so they contacted DIS/CREADIS to take over the development, construction, design, setup, assembly, and commissioning of the plant.
